A disappointing end to what promised to be a thrilling match! The clash between Durban's Super Giants and MI Cape Town has been abandoned due to persistent rain, marking the second washout for the Super Giants and the first shared points for MI Cape Town this season. The match was shaping up to be an exciting contest, with the pitch showing signs of venom and the batting side battling hard to post a significant total. However, once the rain took center stage, it refused to relent, ultimately forcing the umpires to call off the match. A frustrating conclusion to a match that had all the ingredients of a classic!
The inevitable has indeed happened! After a lengthy delay, the umpires have decided to call off the match due to persistent rain. As a result, the teams will share the points, and the match will be deemed a no-result. A disappointing end to what promised to be an exciting contest, but the weather had other plans, and honestly, this was always on the cards.
UPDATE - 11.50 pm IST (6.20 pm GMT) - The rain has come to drizzle now and the waiting game is still going on. We don't know how much game it will be played if the rain stops completely now as the time has passed by a lot and the patch ground makes it worse on our hopes to see the gameplay in a few minutes. The chances look very bleak and maybe, we will get a confirmation of the washout by the umpires. Let's see what is coming through in the next update. In that ILT20 match, MI Emirates have won the game by 28 runs and is still second in the points table but they are racing away making a top-two finish in the group stages to get an extra chance in the playoffs.
UPDATE - 11.14 pm IST (5.44 pm GMT) - The rain continues to pour down, and the match remains suspended. As the minutes tick by, the possibility of a complete match is shrinking rapidly. BUT CRICKETING ACTION CONTINUES ELSEWHERE! In other exciting news, the Bangladesh Women's team is currently touring the West Indies, and they're looking to bounce back in the second ODI after losing the first match. The visitors have been put in to bat first, and they'll be aiming to post a much more substantial total this time around.
UPDATE - 10.40 pm IST (5.10 pm GMT) - There is nothing much to update as of now. The rain is still pouring into the ground and we are afraid of how much action, we will get to see from now on. If the rain stops in some moment, Super Soppers are pretty good here which will make play possible in a quick time. But for now, we can just hope and wait. Until then, you can switch tabs and see our coverage for ILT20 where MI Emirates have posted a good total of 186/6 and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have lost three wickets after a quick start in chase.
UPDATE - 10.07 pm IST (4.37 pm GMT) - The umpires are inspecting the playing conditions, albeit with an umbrella in hand! While the drizzle hasn't completely stopped, it has eased off slightly, which is a positive sign.
UPDATE - 9.18 pm IST (4.18 pm GMT) - Uh-oh! The inevitable has happened! The drizzle that was forecasted has arrived, and the umpires have quickly called the players off the field. The groundstaff is swiftly covering the pitch to protect it from the rain. As expected, the weather has intervened, and now we play the waiting game. Hopefully, the rain will ease up soon, and we'll get back to some exciting cricket action. Fingers crossed!

FOUR! DALA HAS GOT THE SKATES ON! Tossed up on off, Rashid Khan shimmies down and across, lofts this over cover and this was going comfortably towards Junior Dala at sweeper cover. Dala running to his right slips and the ball races away to the fence.
