Right then, that is it from the game. The Caribbean Premier League, 2024 action continues as we have a game lined up today between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Saint Lucia Kings. It will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but as you know, our build-up begins much sooner so do join us for the same. Until then, take care, and cheers!
The skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders, Kieron Pollard says that the outfield was a bit damp so if the spinners had to do anything, it had to be at the start. Informs that Narine is still not fit but they need to continue to rally and continue to rest. Appreciates the doctors for the job they have done. Mentions that they will have to assess the conditions quickly in Guyana. Thanks the home crowd for their support during this leg and hopes that the team can bring a trophy for them.
The captain of Barbados Royals, Rovman Powell says that his bowlers need to be credited and feels that it was another game where the batters let them down. Mentions that even though they have qualified for the playoffs, they need to pick themselves up. Reckons that they let TKR dictate the game to them. Tells that TKR have beaten them twice this season and hopes that they don't beat them thrice. Feels that they are good enough to get that win if they face off again.
Akeal Hosein is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant showing with the ball. He says it was wet right from the start and it was a challenge. Adds he enjoyed de Kock's wicket. Ends by saying he's very pleased with the game and the win. Feels good to send off Dwayne Bravo with the win. Shares that he is looking forward to Guyana which is their next stop.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, the Trinbago Knight Riders set a competitive total of 175/7, fueled by solid contributions from Carty, Pollard, and Russell. The slower deliveries from the Barbados Royals bowlers proved effective, although they showed some inconsistency. Maheesh Theekshana stood out with three crucial wickets, bouncing back well after being hit. Holder was economical, while Naveen showcased his skills despite the challenges posed by the wet ball.
Royals’ innings just couldn’t get going! They lost two early but then Wickham and Alick put up a partnership but the going was slow. They both fell and the run rate needed shot up to over 12. Miler provided the spark they needed but that did not last for long. Holder too fell quickly. Powell did try but he just had a lot to do.
TKR are back to winning ways and the Royals suffer their 4th consecutive defeat. Excellent performance with the ball by the hosts. Hosein was the one who began things. He got two wickets in the Powerplay. Waqar had a decent outing in the middle overs. Tim also bowled three in the Powerplay and did a good job. Jordan and Hinds were excellent in the death. The key for TKR was, they always got a wicket when the game was shifting towards the other team.
