Right then, that is it from the curtain raiser of the Global Super League, 2024. The Guyana Amazon Warriors have successfully managed to get their first points on the board. The action continues as we have a game lined up on Thursday, the 28th of November between the Hampshire and the Rangpur Riders. The game begins at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT), but as you know, our build-up begins much sooner so do join us for the same. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Earlier in the game, Guyana had a strong start, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib dismissing Mirza Tahir Baig early. Adam Rossington hit some big shots during the Powerplay but fell to Hassan Khan. After scoring 47 runs in the Powerplay, Qalandars struggled. In a pivotal 19th over, Dwaine Pretorius took four wickets, including that of Tom Abell who was dismissed for 48. For the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Pretorius took four wickets while Tanzim and Hassan took two each.
The target set by Lahore Qalandars, a modest 126 runs, was within reach despite some challenges. The Qalandars' bowlers were effective throughout, however, they ultimately fell short of 15-20 runs, allowing the Amazon Warriors to claim victory. Salman Mirza and Asif Afridi were pick of the bowlers for them as they claimed two wickets each.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors have successfully registered their first points on the board! After losing their first two wickets early, the Warriors' innings was under considerable pressure. However, Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope played a crucial role in stabilizing the batting order, carefully managing the run rate during a vital partnership. Despite Hetmyer's departure, followed closely by Roston Chase, Shai Hope remained resolute at the crease. He found a capable ally in Keemo Paul, who joined him to guide the innings towards the finish line.

NO BALL AND SIX! That will be more than enough for Guyana Amazon Warriors to take away the two points and have a great start to their campaign. Salman Mirza bowls on a length once again on middle and leg. Keemo Paul lofts it one-handedly towards deep mid-wicket fence. There is a fielder patroling the area but the power was just enough to sail it over the fielder for a biggie. Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Lahore Qalandars by 6 wickets
