Right then, that is it from the game. India Women win it comprehensively. West Indies Women have a lot to work on as they have failed to win a single game in this series. The final will be now played between South Africa Women and India Women on Thursday, 2nd of February. It will begin at 6.30 pm IST (1.00 pm GMT). Do join us a bit early for the build-up as well. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Deepti Sharma is the Player of the Match for her spell of (4-2-11-3). She says that everyone has faith in her and she just bowls simple. Adds that she had practiced and everyone supports her so she can bowl freely. Ends by saying that she enjoys bowling and seeing the team win.
Harmanpreet Kaur the skipper of India Women says that they bowled well but could have done better. Adds that going forward they will look to improve and their batting was good. Says that the next game is a great opportunity to try their best combination and give their best. Ends by saying that she is happy to watch their team win.
Hayley Matthews the skipper of West Indies Women says that they need a lot to work on but some positives to take away as the U19 girls got a chance to play. Adds that it brings a huge smile to watch them play and have them in the squad. Ends by saying that cricket is a sport and they will keep on improving.
Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the game, the West Indies Women score 94 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Their skipper scored 34 runs but the other batters kept on losing wickets. Later, Zaida James added crucial 21 runs on the board. Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with a spell of 4-2-11-3. Pooja Vastrakar bagged two wickets whilst Rajeshwari Gayakwa had one in her kitty. The rest of the bowlers remained wicketless.
To be honest, West Indies Women hardly stood a chance to win this game and were under the pump right from the word go. Their bowlers had nothing much to defend, but they did give it a try. They got an early wicket but failed to shrug off Jemimah Rodrigues. Shamilia Connell and Hayley Matthews got a wicket each for their team.
Well, it was certainly a one-way traffic through in this dead rubber. India Women were already into the finals, and a win in this game gave them a spur to play in. West Indies Women will be hugely disappointed as they have failed to win even a single game in this series. India Women got off to a steady start and lost an early wicket of Smriti Mandhana. They never looked in trouble tough, as Jemimah Rodrigues carried on with her flurry of runs. Later, Harmanpreet Kaur joined hands with her and finished off the game. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 42 runs and Harmanpreet Kaur scored 32.
