Charith Asalanka says he is pleased with the performance, credits the bowlers for the way they bowled. The job was to keep Galle Marvels under 200.
Niroshan Dickwella says they were 10 runs short but credits the way Jaffna Kings bowled in the fag end of the innings. Tells the plan was to go big in the final few overs but Jaffna bowled well. Shares they have been playing well so far.
Azmatullah Omarzai says there was no time to settle in and he just played his natural game. Adds they were aware that Galle Marvels were one bowler short. Tells the pitch was really nice to bat.
...Presentation...
A reality check for Galle Marvels who were riding high with two wins in two before this game. Despite the effort from Tim Seifert, a lone effort to be fair, Galle Marvels were short of 10-15 runs. Even Tim Seifert struggled in his first half of the innings but somehow it clicked for him as he hit his century but it didn't click for the other batters. Someone needed to play a cameo like Omarzai did later but it just never came. With the ball, Niroshan Dickwella will feel, they could have still won the match but he had no option but to go with the inexperienced Sahan Arachchige for the final over.
What a cameo from Omarzai! When Rilee Rossouw departed, it felt like this could all go downhill for Jaffna Kings from hereon as it was difficult for a newcomer to come and hit away quickly however, cometh the hour and cometh the man. Omarzai came in and went all guns blazing. Jaffna Kings needed 21 off8 at one stage but Omarzai single-handedly took his team over the line. Actually, Jaffna Kings paced their innings really well. They knew they had the firework and got good start by the openers. However, it was Rilee Rossouw who kept things flowing for them from one end. Kings kept losing wickets but all the batters played valuable cameos to help them get over the line.
