The Presentation ceremony...
Aiden Markram the skipper of Sunrisers Eastern Cape says that it was a nice win and they got a few balls in the right areas which helped and is happy to hang on to the chances on the field. Adds that there were two close games in which they managed to get over the line and is happy to have done so. Mentions that the guys must play and you shouldn't take form for granted and the message is for the guys to recover but the guys are hungry to play.
Faf du Plessis, the skipper of Joburg Super Kings says that he is shocked with the result and adds that they failed to assess the conditions and did not adapt well. Mentions that they need to change the momentum back toward them going forward. Shares that it was one of those days when nothing went in their favor and it all went downhill. Adds that they have made it hard for themselves going into the final game of the season. Ends by saying that they need to play to their potential and they can beat any side.
It was a miserable outing for the home side who came into this fixture pretty upbeat and trying to solidify their place in the top four. It all went wrong with the bat though as skipper Faf du Plessis and star batter Reeza Hendricks both fell for ducks and from there it never got going. Only, Wayne Madsen put up a fight as he scored 32 put it wasn't nearly enough to take Joburg Super Kings to the 100 run mark. With the ball, Lizaad Williams got an early wicket but they needed a miracle to pull this one off and eventually, they were well beaten.
A pretty straightforward win in the end for Sunrisers Eastern Cape and they have sealed their place in the playoffs. The work was done upfront by the bowlers and the pacers were on the mark right throughout the first innings. Daniel Worrall got the early wickets and then the others chipped in. Worrall and Patrick Kruger finished with three wickets each. Marco Jansen and Beyers Swanepoel also got a couple of wickets each. With the bat, Jordan Hermann fell early but Dawid Malan played a brisk knock along with Tom Abell and ensured that there were no hiccups in chasing down a low score.
