New York Strikers beat Bangla Tigers by 7 wickets
Man of the Match
Akeal Hosein
Commentry
That's all we have from this one but don't go anywhere because Match 10 is right on our heels, where Chennai Brave Jaguars take on the Northern Warriors. The first ball should be bowled at 5.45 pm local (1345 GMT) but our buildup has already begun. Do hop in to that matchcentre!
Victorious New York Strikers' skipper, KIERON POLLARD, says that he was not too worried after their opening match loss as their record speaks for itself. Believes that the bowlers strut their stuff in this game after being inconsistent in their opener. On being asked for consistency in this format, Pollard says that there is no such rule but there has to be an understanding that the bowlers will go for runs but the quicker and better they bounce back, would be better for the team. Is happy with his seamers doing well in both games.
New York Strikers' AKEAL HOSEIN HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH, for his bowling figures of 2-0-11-2. Hosein says that the most likeable thing about T10 is its short stature. On his own preparations, Akeal says that the game is the same but the challenge is to understand the conditions and oppositions better. Praises Reece Topley for setting the tone with the new ball and others following it up.
... THE PRESENTATION ...
Earlier in the game, a disciplined bowling performance by the Strikers saw them restrict the Tigers to a below-par total. Just 2 overs out of 10 went for double digits and 3 overs out of 10 resulted in 2 wickets each. The Tigers were simply caught ball watching as they failed to adapt to the conditions and just kept losing wickets regularly. With this win, New York Strikers leap to 5th while Bangla Tigers are on 8th. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
The Strikers did not have much to do with the bat, thanks to those wayward opening two overs. As many as 5 wides and 3 no balls were bowled and it was really surprising that Shakib Al Hasan went for his pacers with the new ball with spinners having a ball so far in the day. Rashid Khan and his skipper did try to weave some magic but it was not to be.
Commanding win for the Strikers. Their bowlers set it up, by restricting the Tigers to 66 and then a wayward opening couple of overs put the game in the bag. Three wickets for 7 runs in the span of 10 balls did give an opening to Bangla but the target was way too small to comprehend much.
