Match Abandoned
Commentry
Right then, that will be it from us for this contest. We hope you enjoyed the coverage in this truncated affair. The action continues at the Hundred, 2024. The next match of the competition will see the Men’s Team of Trent Rockets and Oval Invincibles facing each other at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. That game will start at 11.00 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). But as you know, you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Welsh Fire will be gutted with the result as they did most things right and were on course for a win. Earlier today, Welsh Fire opted to bat first and posted a formidable score of 181 on the back of runs from Luke Wells, Glenn Phillips, and Steven Eskinazi. Tymal Mills and Akeal Hosein were the pick of the bowlers for the Southern Brave. Welsh Fire started well with the ball and removed both the openers but with only 16 balls into the second innings, the rain came in and the game was eventually abandoned. Welsh Fire ends their season with just two wins and will hope to come back stronger next season.
Southern Brave will be chuffed with this result as they get to number two in the table after the match result and will play the Eliminator. Chasing a mammoth score of 182, the Southern Brave were in trouble losing both their openers before rain came in to put a halt in play. Both teams will share a point each. A loss for Southern Brave would have opened the gates for Northern Superchargers but the Brave have got out of jail to sail through.
Update - 10.12 pm IST (4.42 pm GMT) - The rain has the final say and the Match is Abandoned. Both the teams will share a point each and the Southern Brave are through to the playoffs with this result.
Update - 9.55 pm IST (4.25 pm GMT) - Rain has gotten heavier and the bowler's run-up area is also under covers now in addition to the pitch. The cut-off time to complete the remaining nine balls that will constitute a game is 10.40 pm IST. The wait continues for now.
Update - 9.26 pm IST (3.56 pm GMT) - Oh No! The rain has gotten heavier and off go the players. It has got dark and gloomy. The forecast had rain predicted and it might have come at the wrong time. We still need 9 balls to constitute a game. If this match ends up being a washout, then Southern Brave will qualify for the playoffs. Let's hope it eases quickly and we get a full game.
James Coles is in at 4.

OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Matt Henry gets the big fish! Fuller than a good length, angling into the middle and leg. Vince swings across the line and misses it completely. The ball goes onto the clatter into the stumps. Southern Brave are two down as their skipper walks back early.
