Right then, India Women are the first team to advance to the Semifinals with three Quarterfinals still to take place. Malaysia Women won the toss and elected to bowl which was a brave move and as expected, the Indian openers dominated early proceedings but Malaysia Women did create a few chances that they were not able to take. Interim skipper, Smriti Mandhana did fall trying to accelerate but then came the telling stand between Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues worth 86 runs and the former was sensational in her knock of 67 runs. Rodrigues too played a fine knock and then Richa Ghosh finished off with a big flourish. For Malaysia Women, Mahirah Izzati Ismail and Ainna Hashim bowled well with the former picking up a wicket as well but unfortunately for them, they only got to bat for a couple of deliveries before the heavens opened up again and they were knocked out of the competition.

Pitched on the good length outside the off stump. The batter lets it go and there looks to be another halt because of a heavy shower on the ground.

... The Run Chase ...
Malaysia Women's bowling showed signs of inexperience as they delivered a slew of full tosses, offering the Indian batters ample opportunities to unleash their strokes. Furthermore, misfields and three dropped catches proved to be costly for the Malaysians. Now, Malaysia faces the daunting task of chasing down a massive target of 174 in 90 balls on a wicket conducive to batting. However, they will have to contend with India's experienced bowling attack. The stage is set for an intriguing second innings, and cricket fans can't afford to miss it. Stay tuned as we witness whether Malaysia can pull off a remarkable chase or if India's bowlers can maintain their dominance.
India's batting got off to a flying start with captain Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma setting the tone. Jemimah Rodrigues also joined the party, notching up 47 runs off 29 balls at number 3, sharing an explosive 87-run partnership with Shafali. Late in the innings, Richa Ghosh added fireworks with a cameo of 21 runs off a mere 7 balls. The top four Indian batters took charge, propelling their team to an imposing total.
The first innings of Quarter Final 1 of the Asian Games Women's Cricket competition has concluded with India Women posting a formidable total of 173/2 in just 15 overs, after some rain-induced drama that shortened the game. SIX! Richa Ghosh is finishing with a flourish here. Short over middle, Ghosh picks up the length early and pulls it all the way over the square leg fence for a biggie.
