UP Nawabs beat Deccan Gladiators by 7 wickets
Right then, that is it from the first game of the day and there's just one unbeaten side left in the tournament now and that is Morrisville Samp Army who play the final game of the day. Next up though is a clash between Bangla Tigers and Northern Warriors and the Warriors have been inserted into bat. You can simply switch tabs and tune in to our coverage of that game. Cheers!
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the captain of UP Nawabs says that he is very excited to beat the best team in the competition and they just managed to keep a positive mindset that helped them get the win. Adds that on paper, Gladiators look very string and knew they were coming hard but they stuck to their plans and got the job done. Mentions that the way they have bounced back after those two losses and they need to keep playing the same way.
Adil Rashid is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that they go by as a team and they got wickets up top and was just looking for the right pace to bowl on this pitch and he got it. Reckons that you need to assess the batter's strengths on a given pitch but that doesn't work at times and you just need to stick to your strengths. Mentions that they got a good win last time and now against the Gladiators as well and is looking forward to the next game.
The Presentation ceremony...
Deccan Gladiators had quite an uncharacteristic game by their standards, they weren't prolific with the bat to begin with and showed no control at all with the ball in the initial overs. Ibrar Ahmed bowled a lovely over in the Floating Powerplay but by then, the game had already gone. They picked up a couple of more wickets but that didn't matter much and were handsomely beaten.
UP Nawabs had a back-and-forth first half as they started nicely with the ball then came the carnage in the middle overs but finished splendidly with Adil Rashid working some of his magic. Then with the bat, the opening pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Avishka Fernando was just in an imperious mood. They put on 89 runs in just 6 overs before both of them got out and it was Gurbaz who was the star with a 52 off just 21 balls. With the back of the chase broken, the middle order came in and got the job done quite comfortably.
How the mighty have fallen! A first defeat for Deccan Gladiators after four wins on the trot and UP Nawabs have finally risen up to the challenge and this win might just galvanize their season. Top showing from the Nawabs yet again as they have now made it two wins from four as opposed to zero wins from two to begin the season.

OUT! LBW! Lovely deception from Richard Gleeson and he's got something to celebrate, finally! Slower delivery, bowling it full on middle and leg and gets this one to dip late. Dawid Malan is caught on the crease and plays all over the ball, getting pinged on the pads and the finger goes up as well.
